Frequently asked questions

Who are you?

Take A Byte Limited is a family run private limited company. We have been trading since 1992 and our company registration number is 02703420. You are welcome to look us up on the Companies house website using our registration number.

Where is my data?

Your data does live 'in the cloud'. To be more precise it lives on our servers so that you can access it from whereever you need to. Our servers are monitored 24x7 and we use a high availability infrastructure that you can view here.

Is my data safe?

Yes, it resides on our servers that we monitor and look after 24x7. Our servers are regularly tested for security, PCI compliance and resilience. As well as the servers we also take regular off site backups of all data so that all data is actually in three physical locations.

Can I download my data?

Yes, at any time. Just log in to our backup servers at www.takeabyte2.co.uk. You will then see an extra button in the left hand toolbar called 'Download my data'. This will allow you to download all the data you have entered in three CSV files that you can open in Excel or import into another program. The three files are:

  • 1) Contact information - name address, phone number etc
  • 2) Financial information - all payments made by your customers.
  • 3) Booking and contact history - All the bookings made by your customers along with copies of emails sent.

Is there a contract?

We don't have contracts, you are welcome to leave at any time and take all your data with you. As your payments will be made by standing order then you just cancel the standing order and let us know that you no longer wish to use the system. Obviously we will be sad to see you go and will almost certainly ask why!

How long have you been doing this?

We originally started programming booking systems in 1995 and were selling 'In-Contact' as a desktop application up until 2001. At this point we realised that it was much better run as a service on the Internet and re-launched it as a service to be paid for by monthly subscription. From that point is has just gone from strength to strength and the first customers who joined us in 2001 are still with us.

Can I access my data from abroad?

Yes, definitely. Although our servers are in the UK and optimised for fast access from the UK they still can be accessed from abroad. This means if you are abroad and want to keep an eye on things at home you can do so.
